Working In Alberta: Know The Law

Back in Alberta, Canada means that you are protected if a company attempts to cheat you out of your pay or employment hours. What this means is that your employer can’t boss you around but instead all negotiations whether it’s your pay, your leave and your general benefits at work including having a safe and enjoyable environment, all comes from the pressure of the union. That’s not to say the company wouldn’t be good without the union, but it helps get the most for the employees, usually.

Many Employers Want To Keep You Silent

There are if you’re working together, a few employers that feel their worth should be supported by you and talk against them, not to them. This is why it’s good to know the laws at work. We have heard some say, it is my opinion that employers should be allowed to limit employees of speech while in the work place depending on the shape of work environment they are in. Ideally, action and belief ought to be in alignment. While at first reading this sounds unacceptable and while we do not believe that that you can suppress speech that is free, it does shine a light. Can you work for a business which doesn’t align in the first place with you? Many people are the money, for the wrong motives in it. Therefore, if you do not leave one and decide to stick around for the money, unless they are doing something illegal or unethical or take a job you probably shouldn’t complain. The company should encourage individuals that support them and deserves.

The Essentials of Joining A Union

It is likely that if you started a job and there was coated to your union or marriage dues or an introduction into a shop steward, it is not a unionized environment. You’d likely have a pay scale, if it was and be required to pay union dues. If you are not working somewhere unionized and need to see if you can find all the employees of the company and get them to unionize, just reach out to Albertas best union at the following phone number and address:

Teamsters Local Union 987
12527 129 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5L 1H7
(780) 483-7098

They could help walk you through the process. Essentially however, you will want to receive the rest of the workers and a vote will be conducted. Then do not even bother with the procedure, if you don’t think you can convince at least half at a minimum. While the employer doesn’t get much say in whether the workers unionize, and actually they’re not permitted to influence the decision. That being said you can not just force a union they have the right to vote on it.

Looking at population change year over year let’s you know new members each year you’ll need to consume to keep bargaining power. In any case, you are not likely to be spending a lot of time there. Membership needs nowadays are receptive, you need to be ready to operate and encourage the corporation.
